Putting together an all-school assembly usually takes weeks of planning and preparation. This year, however, Loara’s Student Leadership team pulled together a spectacular event in just three days to launch the 2025–26 school year in true Saxon style.
With the help of last year’s Assemblies Officer Halle Chan and this year’s Naveah Saucedo and Trinity Adly, On Friday, August 8, during Loara’s Week of Welcome, the gym buzzed with energy as seniors, juniors, and sophomores filled the bleachers—yet something seemed different. The freshmen were nowhere to be seen. That mystery was solved when the assembly began, and the Class of 2029 was honored with its own grand entrance.
Like athletes making their way onto the court during a sports rally, the freshmen entered through a tunnel lined with cheering staff, spirited cheerleaders, Link Crew leaders, and student leaders. It was a memorable first step into high school, and the applause echoed throughout the gym as they took their seats for their very first Loara assembly.
The program showcased the best of Loara’s talent and tradition. The Color Guard and Band wowed the crowd with a spirited performance of the Loara Fight Song:
“L-O-A-R-A, spell our name,
Mighty Saxons onward to fame.
Honor, Glory, Victory—these are our specialties,
Onward to Victory!”
Cheerleaders, with only two days to prepare, delivered a high-energy routine that had the crowd on their feet. Students then enjoyed a class balloon-pop competition, where the seniors and freshmen tied for first place.
One of the assembly’s highlights was a lip-dub video, masterfully put together by ASB President Hannah Tran, featuring teachers and staff performing to OneRepublic’s “I Lived.”
The event closed with a moving performance of the Alma Mater by the Loara Band—their first of the year—after just two days of rehearsal:
Hail Loara, school we cherish,
Built by Saxons loyal and true
She provides a firm foundation
Which will last our whole lives through
May her memories always linger,
May traditions live long too
Red and Gold will fly forever
Loara, we’ll honor you
Hail Loara, school we cherish,
Built by Saxons loyal and true
She provides a firm foundation
Which will last our whole lives through
This first assembly of the year celebrated Loara’s wide range of activities, athletics, and Visual and Performing Arts programs, reminding students of the many ways to get involved. As the Week of Welcome wraps up, Monday marks the shift to academics—whether students are taking challenging core classes, exploring electives like Ceramics, Yearbook, and Psychology, or engaging in ROP courses such as Drones and Nursing. Opportunities also abound in online AP courses, dual enrollment, and world language study.
Loara students have countless pathways to make their educational journey both meaningful and memorable. And with Saxon spirit running high, everyone is already looking forward to the next all-school assembly on September 5, 2025, when we will celebrate Homecoming in true Red-and-Gold fashion.
